Baby Wotring - 24 Weeks!

Phew, how are we into December and at 24 weeks?!

Little Miss is growing steadily and gained roughly 4 ounces since last week -- probably more when you factor in all that pie...  She weighs about 1 1/3 pounds and is almost a foot long - about the size of an ear of corn.  Her brain is growing quickly now too and taste buds are continuing to develop. Baby's lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she makes her big debut in the outside world in March. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

24 weeks and growing!

On Sunday morning we braved holiday shoppers and ventured to Babies R Us to register. I had my handy registry checklist in hand and then the BRU associate handed me their long and detailed registry checklist which made things slightly more complicated and overwhelming. After nearly three hours aimlessly roaming the aisles, Ray and I decided we had made enough progress and headed home. We've still got quite a bit of work to do on our registries but I feel really good about the progress we've made and we decided on all our big stuff which feels good.  I couldn't resist this precious little hoodie for our sweet girl. Check out those little ears -- even Mr. Moose is a fan!

Yes, I dressed up a stuffed moose. No, I am not ashamed of it.

We spent the afternoon watching football and getting our Christmas decorations and tree up. I love our little house even more when it's decorated for the holidays! So does Brownie...I promise!

Finishing touch to our tree

"I can't wait for the baby. Maybe then they'll stop dressing me up like one." - Brownie

After all that delicious food in Maine, I've tried hard to overdose on fruits and vegetables this week and get in some good workouts. I even ran a mile on the treadmill at the gym the other day and felt great despite the fact I haven't run since September!  Looks like some of Memere's bread and pie decided to stick around though bringing me to 12.5 lbs gained. I go to the doctor tomorrow morning for my 24 week appointment and I'm hoping I don't get reprimanded for indulging a little too much these last couple weeks!

Big things happening this weekend at Casa de Wotring. The crib should be arriving and we are painting the nursery. Hopefully we'll have some pictures to share of how things are shaping up next week! We're going with a light gray on the walls but here is our color inspiration for the rest of baby girl's room.
